Jay has more than 35 years as a barbershopper and lives in Louisville, KY with wife Kathy, and children Kristina & J.J. (who are both in college). In addition to continuing his long career with UPS, Jay stays busy coaching BHS, SAI, & HI groups and sings with the Southern Gateway Chorus, Cincinnati, OH.
Jay has won four district quartet championships (1 at baritone and 3 at bass). He also won International medals in 3 quartets (The Interstate Rivals - 1987 International Gold Medal Quartet Champions - bass, The Naturals - 1992-1993 International Bronze Medalists - baritone and Marquis - 1995 International Quartet Champions - bass).
Jay was the director of the Loganairre Chapter in Bellefontaine, OH when he was 22 (he started singing barbershop music in that chapter at age 14) and directed the Louisville Thoroughbred Chorus to a Cardinal District Championship and a Top 20 finish in the BHS International Chorus contest in 2005. Jay is extremely proud of his wife & daughter who sing in the front row of the Pride of Kentucky Chorus (Current Region 4 Champions) and daughter Kristina's - Lucky Day - quartet who just won the Region 4 Quartet Championship and son J.J. who sings with the Southern Gateway Chorus and Kentucky Vocal Union Chorus.
